In today’s episode Dr. Cathy Guerrero interviews Carmen McGowin-Paul. Carmen is an internal audit manager for an elected public official. She is currently a member of the IIA, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Association of Local Government Auditors. Carmen has served in many ministry roles over the past 25 plus years. She is also a mother to a beautiful daughter attending college.

Dr. Cathy and Carmen talk all about Imposter Syndrome. How to identify and address Imposter Syndrome in your own life and how to overcome it. Imposter syndrome can be defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success. “Imposters” suffer from chronic self-doubt and a sense of intellectual fraudulence that override any feelings of success or external proof of their competence. 

F-R-A-U-D can stand for two these: 

F—Fear or frustration of failure 

R—Ruminate thoughts of inadequacy 

A—Approval (from others or self) 

U—Undermine and sabotage success 

D—Discredit your ability or education/training 

Or 

F—Foundation of truth 

R—Revelation of that truth

A—Attitude of grace to improve and be sufficient 

U—Uncover root systems that sabotage 

D—Deconstruct, dismantle and deploy new process
